Delhi Blast LIVE Updates: In a major breakthrough, DNA tests have confirmed that the prime suspect, Dr Umar Nabi, was present inside the car at the time of the explosion near the Red Fort in Delhi, that claimed 12 lives, agency sources told CNN-News18.
Preliminary investigations by the Delhi Police indicate that the blast involved ammonium nitrate, fuel oil, and detonators, materials similar to those seized in Faridabad earlier, where officials had recovered 2,900 kg of explosives.
Police have filed a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosives Act on charges of conspiracy and execution of a terror attack.
The United States extended assistance to help India investigate the deadly blast. However, Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted that Indian officials are conducting the inquiry with remarkable skill and efficiency.
“We have offered to help but I think they are very capable on these investigations. They don’t need our help and they are doing a good job,” Rubio said, according to news agency ANI.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday visited the Lok Nayak Hospital in the national capital to meet those injured in the blast.
