Aircraft departs for Delhi's first cloud-seeding trial
NEW DELHI: Aircraft designated for Delhi's first cloud-seeding trial departed from Kanpur and is scheduled to conduct the experiment in northwest Delhi's Burari area, with the primary goal of inducing artificial rain to combat air pollution in the capital during winter months. The trial will proceed on Tuesday if weather conditions, particularly moisture levels and cloud availability, remain favorable, according to an official. The aircraft will directly conduct the seeding trial in the northwest region near Burari before being stationed at the Meerut airport.
If weather conditions prove unsuitable for the seeding operation, the aircraft will proceed directly to Meerut airport, where it will remain until conditions become favorable for the exercise. The cloud-seeding initiative is part of the Delhi government's comprehensive strategy to address deteriorating air quality during the winter season.
