'Oh my god, I am in these movies': Kat Dennings forgets she’s part of the Marvel universe

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has expanded so much over the years that even its own stars are starting to lose track of their place in it. Actress Kat Dennings, best known for playing Darcy Lewis in Thor, Thor: The Dark World, and WandaVision, recently confessed that she completely forgot she was part of the MCU, and the story is as delightfully human as it sounds.“Oh my god, I am in these movies.”During her appearance on The Kate Hudson Show, Dennings recalled visiting Avengers Campus at Disneyland and being utterly clueless as to why so many people were waving at her.“When I am not working I don't think about it. Like I'm really just living and not thinking about it,” Dennings said. “And we were going through Avengers Campus, which is a part of Disneyland, and everyone was like, waving at me. And I was like, ‘oh everyone is so friendly.’ And like everyone is in the best mood because this is the happiest place on earth. People are like ‘hi!’ And then my husband was like, ‘are you okay?’”

It was only then that the realization struck her.“Oh my god, I am in these movies. I forgot. I completely forgot that I was part of the Marvel Universe.” Dennings laughed about the moment, admitting that she initially thought people might have mistaken her for someone impersonating Darcy Lewis. Dressed in flannel, a cap, and glasses, her character’s signature “aesthetic”, she joked that she must have looked like “a really good imitator of Darcy Lewis.”“I really don't think that I am that famous,” she added.

Her deadpan humor, quick comebacks, and the now-iconic moment when she called Thor’s hammer “meow-meow” made her a fan favorite.
