An encounter broke out between the Delhi Police Special Cell and Deepak, a shooter affiliated with the Bhau gang, in the Alipur area late Tuesday night. The operation ended with Deepak sustaining a bullet injury to his leg, following which he was apprehended by the police. According to officials, Deepak is a murder accused and had been on their radar.

The police also recovered a stolen motorbike, a pistol, and several cartridges from the shooter’s possession. These were reportedly used in an earlier crime in Ghazipur. The arrest marks a significant breakthrough for Delhi Police in their ongoing crackdown on gang-related violence in the capital.

Last year in May, a key member of the Himanshu Bhau gang, Ajay alias Goli, was shot dead in an encounter with the Delhi Police Special Cell. The operation, carried out by the Counter Intelligence Unit in Rohini’s Sector 29 under the Shahbad Dairy Police Station limits, followed a series of criminal activities linked to the gang. Goli had been involved in a firing incident at a car showroom in Tilak Nagar. One of his associates was later apprehended by the Crime Branch at Kolkata Airport.
