The Federation of Association of Telangana Higher Institutions (FATHI) has demanded the immediate release of fee reimbursement amounts already tokened by June 30, and clear the dues till 2023-24 academic year within the next three months.

FATHI, which comprises representatives of multiple management associations, including engineering, pharmacy, nursing, B.Ed., and D.Ed. colleges, insisted that the reimbursement dues for the 2024-25 academic year be paid by December 30 this year.

FATHI Chairman Ramesh Babu Nimmatoori said that the colleges were unable to function due to the pending reimbursement dues for the past four years. Teachers were leaving due to unpaid salaries and several colleges were in financial distress unable to pay salaries to other staff as well.

Unless the government supports them by releasing the dues on time, they will fail to provide quality education in tune with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s idea of skilling the students.

The FATHI representatives also proposed that, starting from the 2025-26 academic year, the government must release reimbursement dues in four structured instalments. The Federation also called for a formal GO to institutionalise this system.

Core committee

To highlight the impact of delayed reimbursements, the Federation resolved to seek a meeting with the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers. A core committee comprising the Chairman, Secretary General, Treasurer, Organising Secretary, and other office-bearers, has been formed to take the issue forward.

FATHI representatives claimed that dues were to the tune of ₹4,000 crore and the previous BRS government did not clear them. At least, the Congress government should realise the gravity of the issue and clear the dues in a phased manner so that quality education could be imparted.
