In recent days, a tense silence has gripped Nahal village in Ghaziabad, with deserted streets, shuttered homes, and heavy police presence. The atmosphere turned grim after the tragic killing of a Noida Police constable during a raid, according to a report by Local18.

The incident occurred when a Noida Police team visited Nahal village, acting on a tip-off to apprehend a wanted criminal named Qadir. As the team prepared to raid a house, they were suddenly attacked by a crowd of villagers. In the ensuing chaos, constable Saurabh was shot in the head. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. The incident sent shockwaves through the police department, prompting an immediate and intense response.

To date, the police have reportedly arrested 14 individuals in connection with the attack, and raids continue throughout the village.

When the Local18 team visited the scene, they found many homes deserted. The once vibrant streets are now eerily silent, with a significant portion of the village’s population having fled.

According to the Local18 report, around 80% of the homes and shops in Nahal village, Ghaziabad, are locked, and a deep sense of fear prevails. Many residents have left overnight, while others who remain are hesitant to speak. The once lively village—where children played, women chatted, and farmers returned from fields—is now gripped by silence and anxiety.

Police presence is heavy, with checkpoints set up on the main road and strict monitoring of all incoming and outgoing vehicles. Locals told Local18 they feel they are being punished collectively for the actions of Qadir and his associates, claiming they are being unfairly targeted and harassed by law enforcement.

Small businesses are shut, farming has almost stopped, and elderly residents and women are afraid to even step outside. Those still in the village speak in whispers, wary of drawing attention.

As police continue to conduct raids, Local18 reports that the village remains in a state of fear and tension, its usual vibrancy replaced by a haunting quiet.
