Devaswom (Amendment) Bill forwarded to subject committee

The Assembly on Thursday referred the Guruvayur Devaswom (Amendment) Bill 2025 and Kerala Coir Workers Welfare Cess (Amendment) Bill 2025 to the subject committee. The Bills were forwarded to the subject committee in the absence of Opposition members. The Bill amending Section 9 of the Guruvayur Devaswom Act 1978 will allow the Devaswom chairman and members to receive perks, including honoraria, sitting fees, and other allowances fixed by the government from time to time.

The amendment also proposes to increase the amount that can be spent by the administrator to meet unforeseen contingencies during the interval between two meetings of the committee under section 17 of the Act to ₹50,000 from the present ₹5,000.
