Dibrugarh: Dibrugarh airport was abuzz with celebration on Wednesday as it observed Yatri Seva Diwas with great enthusiasm, an event highlighting the Airports Authority of India’s (AAI) commitment to passenger delight, community service, and cultural connectivity.The day’s festivities commenced with a traditional welcome for the first flight of the day, 6E-6371 from Delhi. Union Minister and local MP Sarbananda Sonowal was greeted at the aerobridge by Airport Director Swapan Sarkar and the AAI team with a ceremonial ‘tika’. The minister joined in the celebrations, posing for photographs at specially designed selfie points and standees set up across the terminal.The celebrations were multifaceted, blending service with culture.
Emphasising sustainability, the airport authorities organised a plantation drive. To ensure traveller well-being, complimentary health check-up kiosks were operational for passengers and staff. The terminal building came alive with vibrant cultural dance performances showcasing Assamese traditions, creating a festive ambiance.Adding a modern and interactive twist, the MIHY (Mobile Interface for Happy Traveller) team engaged travellers by creating digital content and reels.
Children participated enthusiastically in a quiz and a painting competition. As a token of appreciation, gifts and chocolates were distributed among the young participants and cultural performers.Speaking on the occasion, Airport director Swapan Sarkar said, “Yatri Seva Diwas is not only a celebration of our passengers but also an opportunity to connect with them, provide a memorable travel experience, and reaffirm AAI’s focus on service with care.”The day-long initiative successfully transformed the airport into a warm and lively space, ensuring passengers departed with pleasant memories of their journey from Dibrugarh.
