DC in Sivasagar inaugurates public address system
Dibrugarh: In a heartfelt tribute to legendary artist Bhupen Hazarika on his birth anniversary, district commissioner Aayush Garg on Monday inaugurated a public address system at the police control room near the DC’s office.Launched in celebration of Hazarika’s birth centenary, the initiative seeks to preserve Assam’s rich musical heritage by broadcasting his timeless compositions and other classic Assamese songs across the historic Borpukhuri area. The system has been strategically installed to ensure clear audibility throughout the vicinity.“This public address system will bring Bhupen Hazarika’s immortal songs and fading Assamese melodies back into public consciousness.
We want these cultural treasures to reach every citizen and continue inspiring future generations,” said DC Garg during his inaugural speech.Beyond cultural revival, the system also serves administrative functions. It will be used for public interest announcements, emergency broadcasts, and disaster management alerts. Plans are underway to expand the system across Sivasagar town and its municipal wards.
DC Garg praised additional district commissioner Geetali Duarah and PWD (roads) junior engineer Dayal Kishore Konwar for their pivotal roles in executing the project.“We have plans to extend this public address system to the entire Sivasagar town and various wards of the Sivasagar Municipal Board in the future,” Garg said. The inauguration ceremony drew wide participation from the local administration and community. District development commissioner Samiran Baruah, assistant commissioner KN Chandana Jahnavi, officials from various departments, and numerous citizens were present to mark the occasion.
