Dipika Kakar opens up about her liver cancer diagnosis; says 'After reading the reports Shoaib and I both broke down and hugged each other tightly'

Dipika Kakar, who recently underwent a 14-hour surgery for stage two liver cancer, is now back home and recovering. The actress released her first vlog since being diagnosed with a liver tumour, where she opened up about the difficult journey, being separated from her son Ruhaan, the fears she faced, and the unwavering support she received from her husband Shoaib Ibrahim. She started the video by sharing how she feels relieved that she is home and is close to her son Ruhaan and family. “Having my family, my son Ruhaan around, is making me feel much much better. You all have given me so much love and I’m immensely thankful. You have been getting all the information about my treatment through Shoaib. But today I want to share what all I went through.”She continued, “From the time we got to know about the tumour, then we learnt about it being malignant, going through surgery, I just wanted to share everything with you all because you all have prayed for me like my family.

Some of you did namaz for me, some of you performed special pujas for me, all this is very special for me. And trust me when I was in the ICU, Shoaib would inform me that a lot of people are praying for me and it would make me emotional.

I feel blessed and proud that I’ve earned so much love and I’ll always treasure this.”The actress for the first time opened up about the health scare in detail, she shared, “When I first learnt from our doctor about the tumour and he told us that I’ll have to undergo a surgery, and the future treatment will be then decided by specialised doctors, I got scared.

I was nervous about the surgery because our doctor had informed us that it is going to be a major one and the first thing I had to do was to wean off Ruhaan in one night.

It was the most difficult thing that I faced in this entire month. I had no other option and I cried a lot that night. Of course I had to wean off but I did not know it would happen this way. Par jaise harr cheez mein ek accha reason chupa hota hai joh humein baad mein pata chalti hai yahan bhi wohi hua.

Jab humein pata chala I've been diagnosed with second stage liver cancer, I was relieved that he was not on breastfeed because my treatment was starting and I would be on medication. Then my hospitalisation, staying away from him, especially he was away from me at night, all that was very difficult."In the vlog, Dipika recalled the emotional moment when she and Shoaib first found out about her liver cancer diagnosis. "I'll always remember the corridor of Kokilaben hospital when we visited Dr.

Somnath to show him my CT scan and by then the other reports had also come out, Shoaib was aware of it but he did not inform me about it. But when the doctor was checking the reports, I asked Shoaib about the results and he shared that things were not okay.

When I saw the reports myself, I realised it was not okay. That moment, uss corridor mein khade rehkar we both broke down and Shoaib also broke down. Sabse pehle jab aapko ye shabdh pata chalta hai ke malignant hai or cancer hai, it creates fear in your mind.

I just broke down and I hugged Shoaib tightly."Dipika opened up in the vlog about the heartbreaking moment she and Shoaib learned about her diagnosis. She became emotional as she recalled the fears that overwhelmed her, especially thoughts about their son, Ruhaan."There were so many fears in my heart at that time… mostly negative thoughts," she said tearfully. "But, like always, Shoaib held me tightly and gave me strength.

He told me not to worry and assured me that everything would be okay. Even he broke down—something he rarely does."She went on to share how, during their visit to the doctor’s cabin, the diagnosis was explained through sketches. "While the doctor was explaining, I interrupted and asked, ‘Is it malignant?’ He said ‘Yes,’ and both Shoaib and I broke down completely. I then asked what stage it was, and the doctor said, ‘According to me, it’s stage two.’"Dipika shared that the most crucial part of her treatment is now over and the tumour has been successfully removed from her body. However, she added that the journey is not yet complete. “There’s still a long way to go,” she said, expressing hope that she will continue to face the upcoming phases of treatment with the same strength and courage.
