DMK govt is trying turn Thiruparankundram issue into an election drama: Vasan

ERODE: The DMK govt is trying to turn the high court verdict on the Thiruparankundram deepam issue into an election drama, Tamil Maanila Congress party leader G K Vasan said on Saturday.

“The DMK govt is politicising the judiciary,” he said.Speaking to reporters in Erode, Vasan said the inclusion of additional 16.94 lakh women in the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam, which provides monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,000 each, is aimed at securing “negative votes and then to swindle thousands of crores of rupees over the next five years.” He said that the Congress govt in Karnataka had continuously pursued the plan to build a dam across the Cauvery river at Mekedatu, threatening the livelihood of people in the delta region of Tamil Nadu. He urged DMK and its allies to exert pressure on the Congress over the dam issue.He said Tamilaruvi Manian had decided to merge his Kamarajar Makkal Katchi with the Tamil Maanila Congress. “The event will be on Dec 20,” he said.
