The DMK’s farmers wing, along with various farmer associations, plans to stage a demonstration in Thanjavur on May 30 to protest against the new norms proposed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for jewellery loans given by banks.
A.K.S. Vijayan, DMK farmer wing secretary, said the demonstration scheduled to take place in front of the post office in Thanjavur from 10 a.m. on May 30 was to protest the RBI’s new norms that were against the poor and downtrodden.
The BJP government since the day it was elected to power, has been implementing policies favouring corporate companies and has been against farmers and labourers, Mr. Vijayan added.
