Vedic astrology says that Rahu is a shadow planet that represents the north lunar node. It is also considered the planet of sudden shifts, illusions, and karmic lessons. When Rahu is strong, it can bring pathbreaking unconventional success and powerful transformation.
But when afflicted, the planet is associated with confusion and delays. There are several traditional remedies intended to harmonise Rahu’s energy. Here are five simple weekly actions that are believed to invite Rahu’s more constructive influence.Lighting a sesame-oil lamp on SaturdaysIt is believed that Rahu is soothed by oil and darkness-related offerings. Lighting a small lamp using black sesame or regular sesame oil is one of the simple acts of dispelling confusion and inviting clarity.
Each week (many choose Saturday or the new-moon day), light a ghee or sesame-oil lamp in a clean space facing north-west or southeast, quietly focusing on clarity and protection. Chant a Rahu mantraMantras are believed to have immense power. It is believed that reciting Rahu mantras pacify turbulent energy and build inner resilience. One of the most commonly used short chants is reciting the Rahu bija mantra. Just chant 108 times or in a set of 11/21 on the chosen day.
ॐ भ्रां भ्रीं भ्रौं सः राहवे नमः(Om Bhraam Bhreem Bhraum Sah Rahave Namah)Offer black sesame seeds

Rahu is linked with dark colours and black sesame (til) and black cloth are traditional offerings which are said to appease Rahu and reduce scarcity or hidden blockages. Charitable acts also convert ritual into social good. Each week, set aside a small handful of roasted black sesame to offer at a shrine, under a Peepal tree, or to some needy people. Donate an item of black clothing or a blanket to a shelter. Feed crows or leave food at a Peepal/banana treeAs per folk traditions, feeding crows or leaving simple food offerings at large sacred trees is also believed to pacify planetary influences of Rahu.
Once a week place a plate with cooked rice, sesame, jaggery or roasted seeds outside your home or under a tree. Practice self-reflection

Rahu’s lessons are psychological. Ritual without inner work is of no use. A short, weekly reflective practice helps transform Rahu’s energy into disciplined ambition. Spend 10–20 minutes weekly in self reflection. This integrates intent with behaviour — the most dependable remedy. Here are some Rahu mantras:Vedic Rahu Mantraअर्धकायं महावीर्यं चन्द्रादित्यविमर्दनम्। (Om Naagadhwajaaya Vidmahe Padmahastaaya Dheemahi,Tanno Rahu Prachodayaat)Rahu Shanti Mantra (Peace Mantra)ॐ राहवे नमः।(Om Rahave Namah)

Understand that Rahu is a powerful planet that is believed to influence people’s minds. These five weekly practices — light, sound, charity, offerings, and work on self — are some of the practical ways to align with Rahu’s transformative potential. It is important to understand that these remedies won’t change things or situations instantly or miraculously. But when done sincerely and consistently, many people find they reduce friction and open clearer pathways for change.
