Mammootty's mystery-comedy-thriller 'Dominic and the Ladies Purse,' directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, is now streaming on ZEE5. The film follows a retired detective investigating a misplaced purse, which unravels into a complex web of secrets and shifting identities. After a long gap since it's theatrical release, the Mammootty starrer mystery-comedy-thriller ‘Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse’ is all set to begin streaming on OTT. The film marks the Malayalam directorial debut of acclaimed filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon, bringing him together with Mammootty in an exciting new combination.

A detective story with humour, secrets and surprises

The film revolves around Dominic (Mammootty) who is a retired police officer who now works as a private detective. The plot begins as a seemingly simple task, tracing the owner of a misplaced ladies’ purse. The the twist happens as the plot quickly changes it's gears to a web of secrets, shifting identities and unexpected twists. Accompanied by his trusted aide Vignesh, played by Gokul Suresh, Dominic finds himself navigating a case far more dangerous and layered than anticipated.The supporting cast includes Sushmitha Bhat, Viji Venkatesh, Siddique, Vineeth, Vijay Babu and others. The movie will stream on ZEE5 from December 19, 2025. The makers officially confirmed the same.

Our verdict for the Mammootty starrer

ETimes praises the film’s structure, noting, “The film is layered and so are the characters. Gokul Suresh matches Dominic's vibe and so does Viji Venkatesh. They are like two satellites around the star.” The review further adds that “the star performer after Mammootty is Sushmitha Bhatt.

She is spectacular.”The climax has also been highlighted as a major strength: “The exciting climax makes up for any lethargy one may feel at any point in the film.” The review touches upon the film’s sensitive handling of identity-related themes, adding, “There is no judgement which is fair and hopefully, it is looked at through the same lens by the larger public rather than being used as a tool to discriminate.”On the other hand, Mammootty's recent outing is the thriller movie 'Kalamkaval' which is getting good reviews from the audiences.
