US President Donald Trump praised Tesla CEO and his former colleague Elon Musk on Sunday, calling him a “wonderful guy" despite the latter’s renewed criticism of the President’s “big, beautiful bill."

In an interview to Fox News, the US President referred to his former advisor as a “great guy" and that he is “going to do well always." However, he noted that Musk’s behavior after their split, which included a since-deleted tweet connecting Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, was “not appropriate."

“I think he’s a wonderful guy. I haven’t spoken to him much, but I think Elon is a wonderful guy, and I know he’s going to do well always. He’s a smart guy. And he actually went and campaigned with me and this and that. But he got a little bit upset, and that wasn’t appropriate," Trump told Fox News reporter Maria Bartiromo when asked about the tech mogul.

Trump believed that the “great fallout" between him and Musk was due to the electric vehicle mandate, acknowledging it was a difficult policy for Musk. He also indicated that he doesn’t believe everyone should be forced to own an electric car.

“Look, the electric vehicle mandate, the EV mandate, is a tough thing for him. I would, you know, I don’t want everybody to have to have an electric car," he said.

Musk served as a close advisor to Trump and DOGE head till May 2025, when his tenure came to an end. However, his exit from the White House soon turned explosive after he expressed his dissatisfaction with “Trump’s “big beautiful bill" for tax cuts.

Musk’s stance against the bill, which he claimed would destroy millions of jobs," triggered an online feud as both the leaders bashed one another on social media publicly.

The feud also led to Musk posting about the alleged connection between Trump and the Epstein files, which was later deleted.

Musk Calls Bill ‘Utterly Insane’

Weeks after the feud and public spat, the tech giant doubled down on his criticism of the White House’s “Big Beautiful Bill", calling it “utterly insane" and “political suicide".

Musk – who turned 54 on Saturday – targeted the Big Beautiful Bill once again in a series of social media posts ahead of a critical vote on which the Trump agenda hinges. “The latest Senate draft bill will destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country!" he said.

“Utterly insane and destructive. It gives handouts to industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future," Musk added.

In a subsequent post, Musk said polls showed this bill would be a “political suicide for the Republican Party". He also said the bill would raise the debt ceiling by $5 trillion, putting America in the “fast lane to debt slavery".
