New Delhi: In another key milestone in defence technology, a high-calibre bomb was successfully tested on Sunday at the Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL), a facility of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), located in Ramgarh in Haryana’s Panchkula district.According to officials, the trial was successful and was executed in strict adherence to established safety protocols. The test was conducted amid comprehensive security arrangements and under the supervision of senior officials from the air force. Defence experts believe such trials help India improve precision strike and battlefield capabilities while supporting future weapons development programmes. As part of the security protocol, special surveillance was maintained in the surrounding areas. The TBRL had cautioned that bomb fragments could fly up to a height of 1.5 km and spread over a radius of 2 km from the detonation site.A DRDO establishment under its armaments cluster, the TBRL is engaged in the ballistic evaluation of warheads and projectiles. It conducts research in the fields of high explosives, detonics, shock waves and assessing the terminal effects of ammunition.
