COIMBATORE: The Race Course police in the city arrested a man for stealing syringes and medicines from Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on Sunday. The police said the man, identified as A Faizal Rahman, 26, of Kurutha Layout in Kurichi Pirivu near Podanur, had stolen the syringes and the medicines to get high.The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday when a staff nurse found the man coming from the women's neuro ward, located on the first floor of the hospital's new building. The nurse, along with the ward security, stopped the man and inquired. Upon conducting a search, they found nine disposable syringes with needles (5 ml) and a few medicines in his trouser pocket. CMCH staff members alerted the Race Course police, who rushed to the spot and arrested Faizal.A police officer said that Faizal, who is a drug addict, had a habit of injecting drugs to get high. Since he had no drugs available to get high, he stole drugs and syringes from CMCH.The police registered a case against Faizal under Section 305(e) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for theft. He was remanded in judicial custody.
