Drugs worth ₹7.67 crore seized between May 1 and June 25

The Excise department arrested 1,745 people and seized ₹7.67 crore worth of drugs in 1,181 drug-related cases from May 1 to June 25, according to an official release from Excise Minister M.B. Rajesh’s office.

A total of 80 vehicles allegedly used to transport drugs were also seized. Mr. Rajesh lauded the efforts of the department in cracking down on drug trade in the State. The government is making efforts to bring the drug mafia to its knees through coordinated action, he said.

During this year, 19,410 inspections were conducted in school premises. Excise inspections are continuing in all shops within a radius of 100 m of schools. Out of these, four drug cases, 20 excise cases and 1,077 cases related to banned tobacco products have been registered. The licenses of 31 shops involved in drug trafficking have been cancelled in the year 2024-25.

A total of 622.3 g of MDMA, 1831.7 g of methamphetamine, 24.25 g of tramadol, 1.5 g of magic mushrooms, 25.065 g of brown sugar, .66 g of LSD, 326.87 g of nitrazepam tablets, 3.4 g of alprazolam, 3.07 g of buprenorphine tablets were seized during this period. In addition, 289.56 kg of cannabis, 143.34 g of heroin, 117.67 g of hashish oil, 134.3 g of cannabis-infused chocolate, and 122.76 g of hybrid cannabis were also seized.
