Two individuals were arrested by the Petbasheerabad police on Saturday (May 31) in connection with a daylight robbery case in Shamirpet. The accused, identified as Neerudi Satish, a resident of Siddipet and Golconda Pramod Kumar, a resident of Medchal both 32 years old, were remanded to judicial custody.
The robbery was reported on May 30 at around 2 p.m. According to the police, the accused visited the victim’s house under the guise of enquiring about a rental room. After being informed that the rent was ₹6,000 per month, they requested a glass of water. As the victim turned to fetch it, the two men followed her inside, locked the door, and attacked her. They restrained the woman, forcibly snatched her gold chain and an earring, weighing a total of approximately around 30 grams, and inflicted injuries before fleeing the scene. Following a complaint, a joint investigation by the Petbasheerabad police and Medchal Central Crime Station (CCS) utilised CCTV footage, local intelligence, and technical surveillance to track the suspects.
From the arrested duo, the police recovered the stolen gold chain, and a two-wheeler used in the crime. The police said Pramod Kumar was booked by the Gajwel police of Siddipet on the charges of kidnapping and abetment.
