Dy CM orders release of ₹92 crore dues of Gurukuls, KGBVs

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has directed the Finance department to release pending dues of Gurukuls, KGBVs (Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas) and best available schools amounting to ₹92 crore with immediate effect.

The order follows his directive to release ₹303 crore dues pending with regard to Overseas Scholarships on Wednesday. The Deputy Chief Minister gave the order during a review meeting with the Finance department officials on Thursday.

Mr. Bhatti Vikramarka reviewed the pending bills related to mess charges, rent and cosmetic charges relating to tribal welfare residential schools, tribal and general gurukuls and others. He directed the officials concerned to ensure immediate release of dues to avoid inconvenience to students.

Officials concerned were directed to regularly visit government schools and welfare hostels to monitor whether the prescribed menu was being implemented as well as to ascertain the quality of food, accommodation and other facilities to students. The people’s government accorded highest priority to education and was taking all possible steps to ensure that students studying in State-run institutions did not face any hardships.

Government was therefore, systematically clearing both the old and current dues without delays unlike the previous government, which kept bills pending for long time.
