The East Corporation in the limits of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has directed its engineering teams to take strict action against unauthorised constructions, with a target of removing at least one illegal building a week in each division - totalling eight demolitions across all eight divisions.
The directions were issued by the Additional Commissioner, Development, Snehal Sudhakar Lokhande, during a coordination meeting on Monday.
Mr. Lokhande instructed officials to categorise all civil works under the corportion limits into three groups – completed works, ongoing works, and works yet to be undertaken.
A digital colour coded map will be prepared to visually present the status of these works, he said.
The corporation’s senior officials including Commissioner, Additional Commissioners, and Chief Engineer will soon begin daily inspections of all wards as per a fixed schedule to monitor development activities and issue instructions.
Mr. Lokhande further announced that a workshop will soon be held for all engineers to clarify technical and administrative aspects under the newly formed Engineering Department, which will oversee arterial and sub-arterial roads, major roads, lakes, and storm-water drains at the divisional levels.
During the meeting, officials were also directed to record the status of road and pothole repair works through platforms such as BTP Astram, Raste Gundi Gamana App, Sahaaya App, and to upload the details of completed works for online monitoring.
