Elaborate traffic curbs, diversions in place for Muharram in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum district administration and traffic police have drawn up elaborate traffic regulation and diversion plans ahead of Muharram on June 26 to ensure smooth conduct of processions and prevent accidents.Several Muharram Akhara committees will take out Taziya processions on June 25, the eve of Muharram, and on the main day. The administration has urged residents to cooperate and use alternative routes during the period.As per the traffic department’s order, movement of all heavy vehicles, goods carriers and four-wheelers, except buses, will remain completely prohibited on designated routes from 1 pm on June 26 till 3 am on June 27.Deputy commissioner Rajiv Ranjan and SSP Piyush Pandey have appealed to Akhara committees to coordinate closely with officials and police to ensure peaceful conduct of the festival.Main procession routeThe main procession will begin from Bada Hanuman Temple in Mango, pass through Mango Chowk, Azadnagar police station area and Old Purulia Road, and reach Sakchi via Mango roundabout, Golchakkar.Diversions in MangoVehicles travelling from Pardih Chowk towards Sakchi will be diverted via Dimna Chowk.

Traffic from Sakchi towards Pardih or Old Purulia Road will be halted near Mango Chowk, while vehicles approaching Mango roundabout will also be diverted to Dimna Chowk.Arrangements in other areasDuring processions from Dhatkidih to Beli Bodhanwala Ghat, vehicles heading towards the Circuit House and those moving between Regal roundabout and the Circuit House will use a parallel lane. Traffic from Bistupur Market towards Voltas House and from Regal roundabout will also be allowed through a single flank alongside the procession.For processions from Parsudih and Jugsalai to Beli Bodhanwala Ghat, vehicles from Sundernagar and those moving from Voltas House towards Sundernagar will operate via a single lane.Vehicles plying between Baridih and Sakchi will be routed through Hanuman Temple Road, Sheetla Temple Road and Delhi Darbar Lane.Similarly, during processions between Sakchi and Bengal Club and onwards to Pump House, traffic in both directions will be regulated through single lanes. Vehicles from Telco Barinagar towards key chowks will return via the same route.
