Elderly two-wheeler rider killed after being hit by bus in Idukki

Thodupuzha: A two-wheeler rider was killed after being hit by a private bus at Puthenpally Junction in Karinkunnam, Idukki. The deceased has been identified as Eldhose Mathai (67) of Oliykkal House, Shalyampara, Vellathooval.The accident occurred around 3.30pm on Friday on the Thodupuzha-Pala route. Eldhose, who was travelling on a scooter from the Puthenpally side, was attempting to cross the road and enter the opposite side when a private bus bound for Pala struck him. The bus reportedly ran over his body resulting in his death on the spot.Eldhose earned a living by selling lottery tickets. He had been residing in a rented house in the Azhakumpara area. The body has been shifted to the Thodupuzha district hospital for postmortem examination and will be handed over to relatives thereafter.He is survived by his children Laiju and Lincy, son-in-law Ajayan and daughter-in-law Jiji.
