Electricity demand in Greater Hyderabad hits new record on March 3; AC and coolers drive surge

People in Hyderabad began to experience the summer heat only from the past few days. However, they seem to have begun relying more on Air Conditioners (AC) and coolers as the demand for electricity in Greater Hyderabad has surged to set a new record.

On Tuesday (March 3), the peak electricity demand reached 4,421 megawatts, which is the highest demand recorded in the region till date. While this was recorded at the beginning of the summers this year, the previous highest demand of 4,352 megawatts was recorded on May 6 of last year, which was the peak of the summers.
