Erode Superintendent of Police A. Sujatha on Sunday (December 14, 2025) inspected the venue near the Vijayamangalam toll gate in Perundurai taluk, where Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay is scheduled to hold a public meeting on December 18.

The proposed meeting is to be held between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on a 19-acre portion of the 31-acre land belonging to the Sri Vijayapuri Amman Temple at Moongilpalayam village, which is under the control of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR and CE) Department.

The meeting blueprint was discussed, including entry and exit routes for Mr. Vijay’s vehicle, crowd entry and assembly points, barricading, provision of drinking water and toilets, security arrangements, and vehicle parking. The SP held discussions with senior police officers and the organisers.

It may be recalled that the party’s high-level administrative committee chief coordinator, K.A. Sengottaiyan, had last week submitted a petition to District Collector S. Kandasamy and the district police seeking permission to conduct the meeting.

The police had laid down 84 conditions and asked the organisers to obtain a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the HR and CE Department. Sources said the party has submitted the NOC, while the police have so far neither granted nor denied permission.

Mr. Sengottaiyan had earlier said the party would comply with the conditions and approach the court if permission was denied. However, on Sunday (December 14), he told the media that the conditions had changed and that the meeting would go on as scheduled.
