After Poland and Romania, Russia on Friday violated Estonian airspace.

Reuters quoted the Estonian government as saying that three Russian Mig-31 fighter jets entered Estonian airspace without permission and stayed there for a total of 12 minutes.

The country’s foreign minister called the incident “unprecedently brutal," and the government issued a note of protest to the top Russian diplomat in Estonia, The Guardian quoted public broadcaster ERR as saying.

Estonian Postimees reported that the jets did not submit flight plans and had their radio switched off at the time of the incident.

Another local media organisation, Ohtuleht, said the incident took place near the Vaindloo island, and it was the fourth violation of the Estonian airspace this year.
