Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim voiced that there was no place to hide for the players following their exhibition defeat to Southeast Asia XI at Malaysia on Wednesday, on the back of a lacklustre Premier League campaign, which saw the Red Devils finish a lowly 15th in the English top-flight.
“We’ve had the season that we had and it’s not easy to face the fans around the world, so it’s a moment that is hard for us and we want to finish the season," Amorim said.
“But at the same time we want to give something to the fans," the Portuguese boss added.
“We are travelling, we don’t have time to adapt, we don’t have so much time to have contact with the fans and give everything they deserve," he elucidated.
“But it’s clear that we cannot hide… if there is one thing that is really important in this club, it’s that we need to face our fans in this moment and give something to our fans around the world," the 40-year-old added.

United were booed by fans in Kuala Lumpur following their 1-0 defeat to Southeast Asia XI as Maung Maung Lwin netted the line strike of the game in the 71st minute of the game.
“Everybody can feel it. But I understand the fans booing, I understand the players and you also understand that we want to give something to the fans, but it’s hard in this moment," Amorim said.
The Portuguese boss, who replaced Erik ten Hag midway through the recently concluded season opined that being the head coach of United requires a person to be more than just a brilliant tactician.
“You have to improve as a person, you have to improve as a leader. Sometimes after the games you see I am frustrated, I am trying to control that.
“When you have results, you can manage everything so much easier," he added.

United travel to Hong Kong for their upcoming friendly following their defeat in Malaysia and Amorim joked about the rains in HK on the eve of the game between the sides.
“The weather looks like Manchester so we feel at home," Amorim jested.
“If we are professional and we focus on the game it is the best way to protect our players from injuries," he concluded.
