Veteran actress Kirti Sulay, who has been a familiar face on Indian television for nearly three decades, is all set to make her entry in Yash and Mamta Patnaik’s TV show, Dhaakad Beera.Talking about what drew her to the show, Kirti says, “For almost 3 decades of being a part of the entertainment industry, I’ve had the privilege of working on serials across most of the top-rated channels — except Colors. Getting to work on a project featured on the channel had been on my bucket list. The channel enjoys great viewership and features some of the most highly rated programmes. So when the opportunity came my way, I took it as another feather in my cap.
”Kirti reveals that her character in Dhaakad Beera is going to bring a strong and commanding presence to the narrative. “What I’ve understood so far is that the character I portray is that of a taskmaster. I can’t give away much about the plot, but I’m really looking forward to some high-voltage drama ahead,” she shares. The actress joined the show on short notice, diving into her new role almost immediately. “It’s still early days.
I’m in the process of adapting to the character’s mannerisms as I joined the team almost instantly — literally like, ‘Can you shoot with us from this evening?’ But the entire unit is very supportive, so it shouldn’t be a problem,” she smiles. On describing her role further, Kirti adds, “The character seems quite vindictive — something or someone I’ve never portrayed before. The writers and creative team would be in the best position to reveal how the story unfolds, but from the look of things, it surely promises to bring some adrenaline rush in the future.”Speaking about her first impressions of the team, she says, “My first thought was that I’m in good company. The team is very encouraging. Rakshanda Khan is the only person I knew from before, but as we work together and gel more, I’m sure new equations will form.”On learning and adapting to the world of Dhaakad Beera, Kirti shares, “Finding your footing in a new setup is always an adventure. Things are still unfolding for my character, but I’m definitely keen to learn more about the Haryanvi language and culture.”Reflecting on her long career and approach to new beginnings, she adds, “As a performing artist, I’ve learnt one thing — to keep going back to zero. Always ask for creative inputs, accept directional guidance, and cooperate with your team. They’ll put you through the right paces.”With warmth and gratitude, Kirti signs off with a message for her fans and viewers, “I want to thank all my fans for the love and affection they’ve showered upon me over the years. Please continue to stay with us on this journey through Dhaakad Beera and share your thoughts on various platforms — they go a long way in helping us grow as actors.”
