Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah (PTI)
India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah have both been sanctioned by the ICC for their actions during the tense India–Pakistan encounters at the Asia Cup 2025. While the disciplinary action sparked headlines for its political and emotional undertones, it also carries a small but notable financial cost for the two Indian stars.

As per ICC rules, Indian players receive Rs 3 lakh as the standard match fee for a T20I. With Suryakumar fined 30 per cent of his match fee and Bumrah given an official warning that carries a minor financial deduction, both players are set to lose around Rs 90,000 each.
BCCI sends a stern message to Mohsin Naqvi over Asia Cup trophy row
Suryakumar Yadav’s fine came after his post-match comments expressing support for the Indian armed forces and solidarity with the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.
The ICC viewed his remarks as a breach of Article 2.21, which relates to conduct that brings the game into disrepute. Though his statement was widely applauded back home, the governing body decided to impose a financial sanction and two demerit points. Bumrah, meanwhile, received a demerit point for a celebratory “plane down” gesture after dismissing Haris Rauf in the final. While the pacer accepted the charge and avoided a heavier penalty, the official warning still means a small financial loss. In contrast, Haris Rauf faced much sterner punishment — a 30 per cent fine in two separate games and a two-match ODI suspension after accumulating four demerit points.
