F&CC clears record 82 works in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: The finance and contract committee (F&CC) of the Chandigarh municipal corporation cleared a record 82 development works worth around Rs 20 crore, marking a major push for civic infrastructure across the city.The approved works span key sectors, including strengthening of stormwater drainage, improvement of roads and footpaths, upgradation of parks and green belts, augmentation of water supply, installation of streetlights, renovation of public toilets, creation of sanitation infrastructure and overall beautification of public spaces.During the meeting, the committee also decided to set up two panels to scrutinise and recommend special agenda items before they are placed before the competent authority.

One panel will ensure that proposed works comply with MC policies and regulatory norms, and submit its report on pending items within a week.The second panel has been tasked with recommending market rates, specifications and policy guidelines for installing decorative poles and lighting in markets. Its recommendations will be placed before the General House on June 29.Mayor Saurabh Joshi said the record approvals reflect the MC’s focus on balanced development across all sectors, villages and colonies.
