Faridabad Woman, Fiance Strangle Insurance Agent Over Blackmail, Dump His Body In Drain

A woman and her fiance were arrested in Haryana’s Faridabad for allegedly murdering an insurance agent, who had been blackmailing her to stop her marriage.

A woman and her fiance were arrested for allegedly killing an insurance agent in Haryana’s Faridabad, whose body was found dumped in a drain in the city on October 26.

According to the details, the victim was identified as Chander, a resident of Delhi’s East Vinod Nagar.

News agency PTI quoted the police as saying that Chander had been blackmailing the woman to not marry her fiance.

The matter came to light after Chander’s brother, Madan Gopal, approached the police and said his brother’s body was found in a drain, with his motorcycle parked nearby.

Subsequently, a First Information Report (FIR) into the case was lodged, and as the investigations progressed, the police on Monday arrested 29-year-old Laxmi, a resident of southeast Delhi’s Mithapur, and her fiance, 26-year-old Keshav, a resident of Santosh Nagar in northeast Delhi’s Burari.

Both confessed to the murder.

Police said Chander had known Laxmi for nearly five years.

After she got engaged to Keshav, he allegedly started blackmailing her to not marry him.

Harassed by the blackmail, Laxmi and Keshav hatched a plan to kill Chander.

“On October 25, Laxmi called Chander to Mithapur and took him on a motorcycle to a deserted place towards Etmadpur, where Keshav, along with his two friends, strangled Chander with a rope and hit him on the head," a Faridabad Police spokesperson was quoted as saying.

“Then, they threw his body in the drain to destroy the evidence," the spokesperson added.

Raids were underway to arrest the others involved.
