While the first pre-monsoon showers usually bring a wave of relief to farmers, this year they’ve brought with them an added element of surprise. A farmer has discovered something completely unexpected, triggering a hunt for one of the most precious things on Earth.Well, it might be shocking to know, but as the monsoon rains hit the ground, the soil softens and exposes many hidden substances to the surface. This discovery has prompted people from nearby villages to start visiting the fields in Kurnool’s Pattikonda, in the hope of finding their own hidden treasures. What began as a farmer’s stroke of luck is now a quest for fortune. The onset of the first pre-monsoon showers in Kurnool district has not only provided relief to farmers but has ignited an exciting rush for something as precious as diamonds.According to reports by HansIndia, a farmer discovered a diamond while working in his agricultural field near the Tuggali mandal headquarters, attracting a wave of people from nearby areas in search of more. The farmer stumbled upon the diamond while continuing his regular agricultural tasks after the light rains. The lucky find was quickly sold to a local trader for Rs. 1.5 lakh, a significant amount for anyone in the area.
The Jonnagiri village, located in Tuggali mandal, is a region with a history of sporadic diamond discoveries, and now the locals have launched a frenzied search for precious stones. The softened soil, made easier by the rain, has given people a better chance to spot unusual stones.
According to a local resident, many villagers, including entire families, are now spending long hours in the fields, carefully digging through the soil.
"Even children and infants are part of the search," shared one observer. Families are preparing for long days, bringing along food and provisions to keep them sustained while they comb through the fields. "Some parents are even carrying toddlers in walkers while older children help with the search," another local mentioned.
Locals have long associated the land with mysterious treasures beneath the surface, and this recent discovery has reignited their hopes.
However, experts caution that while diamonds have been discovered in the region before, these finds are rare and highly unpredictable."The first drops of rain bring not only the promise of a good harvest but also the dream of unexpected prosperity glittering beneath the earth," said a local resident to HansIndia, with villagers balancing the hopes of a good crop alongside dreams of hidden riches waiting to be discovered.
