The Govindapura police have arrested a father-son duo in connection with a theft at a computer shop in Nagawara and recovered stolen electronic components worth nearly ₹80 lakh from their tenant.

The arrested have been identified as Hemant Manjunath, 21, a laptop technician, and his father Manjunath M., 45, a former waterman. Both are residents of T. Channayya Layout.

According to police, the complainant, a resident of T. Channayya Layout in Nagawara, lodged a complaint on March 14, stating that he had closed his shop on the night of March 13. When he returned the next morning around 11 a.m., he found the shop door open with computer components missing.

Based on the complaint, a theft case was registered. Acting on credible information, police detained one suspect on March 15 near a hotel on the main road in Chanakya Layout, along with a two-wheeler allegedly used in the crime. During interrogation, the suspect confessed and revealed the involvement of his accomplice.

Subsequently, both accused were arrested and subjected to sustained questioning, which led to the recovery of 444 DDR4 RAM modules and 279 SSD hard disks from their possession.

Police said the accused had rented out the house to the complainant and were aware of his business. Suspecting that the shop was doing brisk business, they allegedly committed the theft using duplicate keys out of jealousy. The duo had planned to sell the stolen components to prospective buyers.
