Brazil look to book their place in the last 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday as they face Scotland in their last Group C game.

Five-time World Cup winners Brazil are expected to go through, but they are up against a Scotland side in Miami determined to qualify for the knockout round for the first time in their history.

Scotland is hoping to qualify for the knockout stage at the World Cup for the first time following eight previous group-stage exits. The Scots got off to a good start to their first World Cup in 28 years, beating Haiti 1-0 in their opener for their first win on football’s biggest stage since 1990.

Following a 1-0 loss to Morocco, Scotland is third in FIFA World Cup 2026 Group C with three points, needing a draw or potentially a narrow loss against Brazil to make it out of the group stage.

Scotland has never beaten Brazil in 10 meetings and is winless in eight previous World Cup matches against South American opponents. Brazil has lost only one of its last 16 World Cup group matches against European teams.

Morocco, who held Brazil to a 1-1 draw in an early highlight of the tournament, will favour their chances against already-eliminated Haiti and would top Group C if the Brazilians fail to beat the Scots.

Such an outcome would complicate the path of Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil later in the competition.
