Brazil and Scotland meet in their final Group C fixture in Miami on Wednesday with a place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 32 on the line.

While Brazil are favourites to progress, Scotland remain in the hunt for a historic first-ever appearance in the knockout rounds of the tournament.

Team News

Neymar is available for the Group C match, but coach Carlo Ancelotti did not specify if the Brazilian superstar would play a role in the Miami Stadium clash. The 34-year-old forward was recalled by the Italian for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after almost three years away from the national team, but has yet to play at the tournament because of a calf injury.

Predicted Lineups

Scotland (3-5-2): Gunn; Hickey, Hendry, McKenna, Robertson; Gannon-Doak, Ferguson, Christie, McGinn; McTominay; Adams.

Brazil (4-3-3): Alisson; Danilo, Marquinhos, Gabriel Magalhaes, Alex Sandro; Bruno Guimaraes, Casemiro, Lucas Paqueta; Rayan, Matheus Cunha, Vinicius Junior.

Key Stats

Scotland began their campaign with a hard-fought victory over Haiti before falling narrowly to Morocco, leaving them on three points heading into the decisive clash. Steve Clarke’s side know that a positive result could secure qualification and potentially even see them finish atop the group, depending on the outcome of Morocco’s match against Haiti.

Brazil, meanwhile, responded to a draw with Morocco by defeating Haiti 3-0 and will guarantee their place in the next round with victory. Neymar’s availability strengthens Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, although Raphinha remains sidelined through injury.

The contest also carries significant historical weight. This will be the fifth World Cup group-stage meeting between the two nations, matching the record for the most-played fixture at this stage of the competition. Their previous encounters came in 1974, 1982, 1990 and 1998, with Brazil winning three and drawing one. Scotland have never defeated the Selecao and are still searching for a first World Cup triumph over South American opposition.

Prediction

Brazil would rely heavily on Vinicius Junior doing his thing, but the Scots are expected to sit back deep in their own half and look for counters.

If Ancelotti opts to gamble on Neymar, Brazil might just have the game in the bag, given the sheer talent on offer.

Prediction: Scotland 1-2 Brazil.
