FIR filed against 50-year-old man who drove over pet dog at Siolim

Panaji: Anjuna police on Saturday registered an FIR against a 50-year-old man for allegedly running his four-wheeler over and killing a pet dog at Siolim.North Goa SP Rahul Gupta said that Peter Fernandes, a resident of Siolim, in his complaint, stated that at Fernandes Vaddo, Siolim, Satish Jairam Sadekar, also a resident of Siolim, knowingly drove over a pet dog that was seated on the road.Gupta said that after the four-wheeler dragged the pet dog, resulting in the death of the dog. Sadekar then fled from the spot. The incident took place last month, he said.“Sadekar’s act resulted in cruelty to animals,” the North Goa SP said and further added that the FIR has been filed under various provisions of the BNS and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960, Gupta said.Further investigation is in progress with PSI Nitesh Shingadi.
