Five minor boys escaped from the Saidabad Juvenile Welfare And Correctional Centre in Saidabad late on the night of July 21.

The boys, aged between 15 and 17, broke open the iron grills of a door using a rod, scaled the compound wall, and jumped down using a tree adjacent to the wall on the outside, Inspector of Saidabad Police, B. Chandra Mohan said.

“A special team has been formed to trace the escapees. Of the five, three are from Telangana and two are from Andhra Pradesh. Their absence was noticed when fellow inmates informed the authorities after realising they were missing,” said the officer.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the escape was pre-planned. Police suspect that the boys may have received help from their friends outside as well as from other inmates within the juvenile home. Efforts are underway to track them down.
