KURUKSHETRA: Five labourers of Uttar Pradesh’s village were found dead inside a room of a resort in Kurukshetra on Tuesday. The police suspect that they died due to asphyxia caused due to fire in the enclosed room, which they must have lit in the night before sleeping in the room.The deceased were identified as Roshan, Noor, Sonu, Madan, all residents of Shekhpura Qadima, Saharanpur district in UP and Ram Kumar of Saharanpur.The labourers were assigned the job of doing paint at the resort by a contractor and were provided accommodation in the same property. The police found burning coal in an iron pan inside the room.Thanesar City SHO Dinesh Singh said, “We received the information in the morning.
The labourers were staying in the resort for a paint job. They had lit fire and closed the room. Total five persons have been found dead in a single room including a contractor and four labourers.”Upender, an employee of the resort said, “When our staff came to check in the morning, no labourer responded to the knocking. We checked through the window but nobody woke up. We called the manager, who then informed the police. Coal was burning inside the room and all five were found dead. They had come for a paint job on Monday evening.”The SHO said that they have taken the bodies into their possession for post-mortem and further investigation is ongoing.
