Five men get double life imprisonment in Coimbatore double murder case

COIMBATORE: The V additional district court in Coimbatore on Monday sentenced five men to double life imprisonment for their involvement in a double murder case.V additional district judge P K Sivakumar found Sadiq Ali, 41, Askar Ali, 41, Mansoor Ali, 33, Jaheer Hussain, 51, and Azarudeen, 34, guilty in the murders of M Moideen Bhasha, 36, and M Abib Mohammed, 27, and awarded them a double life sentence along with a fine of Rs 20,000 each.

The sentences would run concurrently.According to police, M Moideen Bhasha, 36, was running a beef stall near Townhall in the city. Sadiq Ali was running a beef stall at Ukkadam. On Oct 31, 2015, Moideen went out, leaving his worker Ashish at the beef stall. Sadiq Ali arrived at the shop and took 4 kg of meat and bone without Ashish's consent. Ashish informed Moideen about this.Subsequently, Moideen, along with his friend, M Abib Mohammed, 27, went to Sadiq's shop, got into a quarrel and then returned to his own shop.

Later, Sadiq's friend, Askar Ali, called Moideen and asked him to meet them near a bakery in Oppanakkara Street to talk about the issue. Moideen and Abib Mohammed went to Oppanakkara Street. Sadiq, Sheik Ali, Askar Ali, Mansoor Ali, Jaheer Hussain and Azarudeen were present there.

They got into a quarrel with Moideen and Abib and stabbed the duo with a knife. Both died on the spot.The Variety Hall Road police registered a case, arrested the six men involved in the murder and filed a chargesheet before the court. Of the six accused, Sheik Ali died a few years ago due to health issues.
