The Indian Railways is once again grappling with disruptions caused by dense fog during the winter season, forcing the cancellation of several long-distance express trains for three months. Despite major investments to ensure smooth operations, fog-related delays and cancellations continue to inconvenience passengers every year.
According to officials, multiple trains will remain suspended from December 1, 2025, to February 28, 2026, due to poor visibility conditions. Among them is the Jalandhar–Delhi Superfast Express, a key train on the Saharanpur–Delhi route, which will stay off the tracks until March 1, 2026.
AK Tyagi, Senior Superintendent of Saharanpur Station, said that the cancellations were implemented as per safety guidelines. He said that instructions have been received to cancel several trains due to fog. The Railways will make alternative arrangements to ensure passengers do not face inconvenience," he stated, according to a report in India.com.
