The Forest department conducted a special trekking programme at Lankamala forest as part of the Kadapa Native Forest Restoration Project.
Led by District Forest Officer (Kadapa) Vineet Kumar, around 200 participants from Kadapa, Badvel, Jammalamadugu and Proddatur, including women, children and youth, joined the trek. The experience gave the participants a chance to explore the rich values of the Kadapa forests, their ecological importance and their natural beauty.
Mr. Kumar called Lankamalla a part of Kadapa’s rich culture and heritage. “The forest must be maintained undisturbed as it is home to wild animals. We should be sensitive to nature and wild animals and not harm them in any way,” he said.
This event was part of the department’s effort to create awareness for the local people on nature.
