Lando Norris produced a near-perfect performance at the Formula 1 Mexico City Grand Prix, cruising to victory and seizing the championship lead from McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri with just four races remaining in the 2025 season, IANS reported.Starting from pole position after a stellar qualifying session, Norris made no mistakes off the line and quickly built a commanding gap to the rest of the field. The Briton controlled the race from start to finish, eventually crossing the line a massive 30 seconds ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen completed the podium, narrowly missing out on second place after a late Virtual Safety Car neutralised any chance of a final-lap overtake.Piastri, meanwhile, endured a tough weekend. After qualifying only seventh, the Australian slipped further down to 11th on the opening lap following a chaotic midfield battle. He recovered to finish fifth, but the lack of pace compared to his teammate was evident once again.

One of the standout stories of the race came from Ollie Bearman, who claimed a career-best fourth for Haas. Starting ninth, the young Briton kept his composure amid early chaos to move up to third before eventually settling for fourth, fending off pressure from faster rivals throughout.
His teammate Esteban Ocon also contributed to Haas’s strong showing by finishing ninth.Mercedes had a frustrating outing, with Kimi Antonelli and George Russell finishing sixth and seventh respectively. Russell voiced his frustration over team radio, believing he could have challenged Bearman if given clean air. Lewis Hamilton followed in eighth after an early penalty for gaining an advantage off track derailed his podium hopes.
Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto rounded out the top ten.The victory marks Norris’s sixth of the season and his first since Hungary Having trailed Piastri by 34 points after the Dutch Grand Prix, Norris now leads the championship by a single point, with Verstappen sitting 35 points behind in third. While McLaren has already sealed the Constructors’ Championship, the battle for second remains close. Leclerc’s podium helped Ferrari edge ahead of Mercedes with 356 points, just one clear of their rivals, while Red Bull sits nine points further back. The 2025 Formula 1 season continues with the Brazilian Grand Prix at São Paulo’s Interlagos Circuit on November 9.
