Four school students who escaped from home and went to Manginapudi beach were rescued by the police on Friday (August 22). They were handed over to their parents in safe condition.

The children, studying 8th and 9th classes in a government school in Vijayawada, planned to go for an outing. They left home without informing their parents on Thursday night.

The students stayed in a park till 11 p.m. and went to Manginapudi beach on bicycles. Family members of the children searched in vain and lodged complaints with the Patamata police at around 4 a.m. on Friday, said CI V. Pavan Kishore.

“We formed special teams and searched for the boys. In the CCTV footages, police observed that the students peddled towards Machilipatnam on bicycles,” the CI said.

Around 8 a.m. the four boys were traced at Manginapudi beach. They were brought to Vijayawada and handed over to their parents after giving counselling, Mr. Pavan Kishore said.

The CI appreciated the police teams who rescued the students within four hours after receiving the complaint.
