The French Capital City of Paris gears up to extend a hero’s welcome to the PSG side that clinched their first-ever UEFA Champions League title with a 5-0 decimation of Inter Milan in Germany on Sunday. Luis Enrique helmed the Parisians to their maiden elite European crown with the biggest win margin in a final in the history of the prestigious tournament to break a long-standing hoodoo.

The Parisian side will hold a title parade at the Champs-Élysées to mark the historic accomplishment with over 100,000 fans expected to turn up for the team’s return from Munich. However, the parade will be closed to traffic and surrounded by scrict security measures after two people were reported dead and a police officer put into induced coma due to the wild celebrations PSG’s win set off in France.

Desire Doue starred with a brace, while Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Senny Mayulu all also found the back of the net in an emphatic performance to give the Qatari-owned side their first-ever Champions League title.

French President Emmanuel Macron lauded the Capital city side on their accomplishment and labelled the triumph in the summit clash as a “day of glory for PSG".

“Bravo, we are all proud. Paris is the capital of Europe tonight," the 47-year-old added.

PSG chairman Nasser al-Khelaifi noted the struggle the Qatar Sports Investments-owned team have had to endure en route to their historic achievement as they finally accomplished the target the owners set in place when they bought the club in 2011

“The objective now is to win again," al-Khelaifi said.

“It has taken 14 years of hard work but we are building something for the future," the Qatari added.

Mayulu, who netted his side’s fifth and final goal of the tournamnet just minutes after coming off the bench expressed his delight with the victory and remarked how surreal it felt to finally tick off the UCL crown from the side’s wishlist.

“I still can’t believe it, I think it will only seem real tomorrow," the 19-year-old said.

“In the dressing room, everyone broke down in their own way, you could see it in their eyes, people were filled with joy and pride," the Frenchman revealed.
