From Kanda Poha to Kosha Paneer: Railways announces food menu for 11 Vande Bharat trains

Vande Bharat train menu: Indian Railways (IR) has revised the onboard food offerings on Vande Bharat trains to enhance passenger experience by serving authentic, region-specific cuisines. Earlier this week, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw directed the national transporter to introduce local flavours on Vande Bharat trains.

Following this directive, the Ministry of Railways, through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), has announced revised menus for 11 Vande Bharat Express trains. Later, this new facility will be progressively expanded to all other trains.

Presently, 164 services of Vande Bharat trains with Chair Car are operational across the vast network. Developed by Chennai-based Integral Coach Factory (ICF), these semi-high-speed trains have been running with full occupancies.

According to Indian Railways, passengers travelling on the 20101/20102 Nagpur–Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express will get Maharashtra’s Kanda Poha along with South Indian dishes such as Dondakaya Karam Podi Fry and Andhra Pradesh’s signature Andhra Kodi Kura.

Meanwhile, Gujarati flavours have been introduced on select services, with Methi Thepla being served on the 20901 Mumbai Central–Gandhinagar Capital Vande Bharat Express and Masala Lauki on the 26902 Sabarmati–Veraval Vande Bharat Express.

Additionally, Odisha’s popular Aloo Phulkopi is now available on the 22895 Howrah–Puri Vande Bharat Express.

Kerala’s traditional spread, including white rice, Pachakka Cherupayar Mezhukku Perati, Kadala Curry, Kerala paratha, plain curd and Palada Payasam, along with Appam – is being served on the 20633/20634 Kasargod–Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express. Meanwhile, West Bengal’s signature dish, Murgir Jhol, has been introduced on the 22302 New Jalpaiguri–Howrah Vande Bharat Express.
