Renukaswamy Murder Case: Actor Darshan has been named the second accused in the 3991-page chargesheet submitted by police in the murder case.

The Supreme Court on Thursday cancelled bail for actor Darshan in the Renukaswamy murder case. Darshan, along with his partner, actress Pavithra Gowda, and several others, is accused of abducting and torturing 33-year-old Renukaswamy, a fan who allegedly sent obscene messages to Pavithra.

Darshan was arrested on June 11, 2024, and initially held in judicial custody. In a major development in the case4, the apex court on Thursday ordered cancellation of his bail and his immediate re-arrest.

Who Is Actor Darshan?

– Darshan Thoogudeepa, popularly known simply as Darshan, is a prominent Kannada film actor.

– He is popularly called D Boss and has a massive fan base across the southern state.

– He has acted in over 50 films and is among the highest-paid actors in the industry, with a career spanning more than two decades

– Darshan has been named the second accused in the 3991-page chargesheet submitted by police in the Renukaswamy murder case.

– He is accused of conspiring to kidnap, torture, and murder Renukaswamy.

Renukaswamy Murder Case

The actor allegedly orchestrated the crime. Renukaswamy was lured to a shed in Pattanagere under false pretenses and brutally beaten—reportedly with sticks, a belt, possibly even electric shocks—before being dumped near a drain where his body was found. It was confirmed in the post-mortem report that he died from shock and hemorrhage due to multiple blunt injuries.

Earlier, Darshan and Pavithra had appealed to retain bail, but the SC had reserved its verdict.

The evidence submitted by the police includes CCTV footage, call records, forensic reports, witness statements, and details about payments made to co-accused to conceal Darshan’s involvement.
