Patna: Gandhi Maidan has been divided into four sectors and several sub-sectors to ensure foolproof security and smooth conduct of the ‘Ravan Vadh’ scheduled for Oct 2. District magistrate Thiyagarajan S M inspected the preparations on Monday along with SSP Kartikeya Sharma and other senior officials.The DM directed officials to conduct a mock drill in coordination with the district control room and the SDRF.With support from the department of art, culture and youth, Shri Krishna Memorial Development Committee will organise a Dussehra festival at Shri Krishna Memorial Hall on Sept 25, featuring performances by nationally renowned artists.A 12-day Ramleela festival will also be held at Gandhi Maidan from Sept 22 to Oct 3.
The DM instructed officials to ensure robust arrangements for the Ramleela, Dussehra festival, and the Ravan Vadh programme.Special traffic and crowd control measures will be implemented in view of ongoing metro construction near Gandhi Maidan. Officials from Patna Metro will coordinate with the district administration to ensure smooth movement of spectators. Special focus will be on traffic management along JP Ganga Path, Ashok Rajpath, Exhibition Road, and other key routes.
The entire area will be under CCTV surveillance from the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC). Patna Smart City Limited has installed 128 CCTV cameras across the Gandhi Maidan campus. Additionally, 34 light towers with 136 LED metal lights, 229 pole lights, and 15 high-mast lights will ensure adequate illumination, along with improved pathway lighting. Engineers and technicians will be deployed to maintain the lighting system.The DM also instructed that all electrical wiring near the venue be properly secured.“The crowd exit should remain smooth. All gates must remain open during the Ravan Vadh event, and magistrates and police officers should leave their posts only after the ground has been fully cleared,” the DM said.
