The immersion of Ganesh idols was conducted peacefully on Sunday (August 31, 2025), the fifth day of the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities, in the district headquarters of Nandyal town and in Adoni of Kurnool district. The idols were immersed in local tanks and water bodies at all major towns in Allagadda, Atmakur, Dhone and Mahanandi of Nandyal and also in Kodumur and Gudur of Kurnool.
Ganesh idols of various sizes and colours were taken out in colourful procession amid drum beats by devotees. Elaborate security arrangements were made by the police and district administrations for the peaceful conduct of the festivities.
In Nandyal, Superintendent of Police Adhiraj Singh Rana offered prayers to the ‘Rakshana’ Ganesh idol installed at the district police office. The idol was taken out in a colourful procession amid traditional drum beats and the SP couple offered prayers to the idol at Vinayak Ghat at Cheruvu Katta before immersion. Police kept a close watch on the procession route and in sensitive areas in Nandyal, Atmakur and other areas.
In the sensitive Adoni town of Kurnool district, nearly 1,000 police personnel were deployed to monitor the situation. More than 448 idols were immersed in Adoni while 97 were immersed in Gudur town. Two additional superintendents of police, 40 circle inspectors, 60 sub-inspectors, 122 ASIs and head constables, apart from special party police, rope party and mobile police were deployed to keep watch.
Superintendent of Police Vikrant Patil supervised the security arrangements at LLC Canal at Chinna Harivanam while police personnel were posted at all major junctions and intersections.
A tight vigil was kept with drones and CCTVs and the movement of trouble-mongers was keenly watched to prevent any untoward incidents. Adoni BJP MLA P.V. Parthasarathi launched the idol immersion at Rampuram pond in Adoni town.
As many as 1,500 idols were installed in the towns and mandal headquarters across the undivided Kurnool district. Immersion of idols in Kurnool will take place on the ninth day (September 4) of the festivities which began on August 27.
