Based on the victim’s complaint, police registered a case under Section 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and began an investigation.
Police stated that the accused carefully selected his targets and executed crimes with precision to avoid suspicion.
A man allegedly attacked his neighbour with a sword, partially severing his ear in In Ghaziabad, over suspicions of an affair with his wife.
According to the police, the accused have been identified as Nitin and the victim as Abhishek Pratap Singh.
The incident took place on the evening of April 16 in the Siddharth Vihar area. The entire attack was caught on CCTV, which showed the accused, approaching the victim, from behind before engaging in a fight with him, India Today reported.
Preliminary findings indicate that the accused, Nitin, suspected his wife of being in an illicit relationship with Abhishek, leading to repeated disputes between them in the past. Police said this suspicion allegedly led to the violent attack on Thursday.
CCTV footage of the incident, which has been widely circulated on social media, shows Abhishek riding past the gate of Gokuldham Society before stopping at a corner. While he appears to be speaking with another individual, Nitin, who lives in the same housing society, approaches him from behind and suddenly attacks.
The footage then shows a scuffle between the two as they try to overpower each other. During the altercation, Abhishek is seen holding what appears to be the cover of a large sword, while Nitin continues to strike him repeatedly. Abhishek eventually collapses, clutching his ear.
A bystander who had been standing nearby intervenes and restrains Nitin, preventing further assault. After some time, Abhishek is seen leaving the spot on his bike.
Based on the victim’s complaint, police registered a case under Section 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and began an investigation. Nitin has since been arrested and sent to jail.
Police said the CCTV footage is a crucial piece of evidence and added that all angles of the case are being examined, assuring strict action.
