As Bihar gears up for the first phase of voting for the legislative assembly elections, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made an appeal to the people of the state to give the Mahagathbandhan a chance in the upcoming polls.

The opposition bloc’s candidate went live on Facebook and promised employment opportunities, better infrastructure, and overall development if voted to power. Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition issued a video message, urging the youth of the state to vote in large numbers in favour of the grand alliance.

Think Of Future Before Polling: Tejashwi

Speaking during the live address, Tejashwi said, “I just want to tell all the youth of Bihar that in your entire life, just for once, vote for Mahagathbandhan to get jobs, better opportunities and development of Bihar. I am not asking for 20 years. I just need your support and 20 months."

He said that this election is to make Bihar free from corruption and crime and make the state number one.

“When you cast your vote tomorrow, think about your future. Think about your present. Why is Bihar the poorest state? Why is there no factory, industry, or business in Bihar? Why is there no agro-based industry in Bihar? Why is there no IT park? Why is there no SEZ? Why are there no data centres? Why is there no sugar mill or jute mill? Why do our 4-5 crore brothers have to go outside for healthcare, education, and job?" he said.

Tejashwi further vowed to fulfill the promises made in the manifesto, saying that what hasn’t happened in 20 years, the Mahagathbandhan government will do it in 20 months.

“I would like to request all of you to participate in this movement, vote, and create a new government," he added.

Will Form Govt of Poor: Rahul Gandhi

In a video message, the Congress leader referred to his press conference, where he accused the BJP and the Election Commission of vote fraud and maligning the recently held legislative assembly elections, including Haryana and Maharashtra.

“In the press conference, I told you a story of Bihar, a story of a family, a story of a village, but this has happened with lakhs of people in Bihar. People have been denied of their voting rights. Vote theft is an attack on the constitution, it is an attack on the constitution of Ambedkar Ji, it is an attack on the constitution of Gandhi Ji, and we all have to stop vote theft," he said.

Rahul Gandhi urged the youth, particularly Gen Z, to come out in large numbers and vote.

“My guarantee to the people of Bihar is that we will form a government of the poor, of the farmers, of the labourers, of every caste, of the backward, of the backward, of the Mahadalits, of the Dalits, of the minorities, of the poor, of the general caste. Every Bihari will have a voice in this government," he added.

Bihar’s Phase-1 Voting Tomorrow

Polling will take place across 121 constituencies spread over 18 districts, setting the tone for the entire two-phase election (the second phase is on November 11) and determining the fate of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) against the resurgent Mahagathbandhan.

With the fate of 1,314 candidates, including political veterans and prominent debutants, to be sealed by the voters, this phase is a high-stakes referendum on the incumbent NDA and the challenging Mahagathbandhan. Also, the Prashant Kishor-led Jan Suraaj Party’s performance in recent bypolls suggests it can influence outcomes, even if it doesn’t win seats outright.
